Kate Winslet is a wonderful human being.
A lot of people like her just because of her role in Titanic, which I do, of course appreciate because she kicked ass and, let’s be honest, that script isn’t even very good, however I have watched her play many more roles than that and she just makes all of them into a realistic character. She has a skill for interpreting characters, even one’s that have been done over and over, and making them her own. She may not be a comedian, but there shouldn’t be a doubt to anyone that she is a fantastic dramatic actor.
Excellent films of hers: Sense and Sensibility, Heavenly Creatures, Hamlet (1996) and, (yeah i guess I’ll put it in because the acting in this movie was really good) Titianic.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Titanic is kind of a sappy love story, but it also has a lot of emotion and reality in it. I’m not a huge fan of the script itself, but the idea behind it, knowing the ships going to go down and having that dramatic sort of irony is a brilliant movie conflict, I think. I cry through the whole last third of the movie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet performed this with such incredible feeling, most people forget that the lines theyre saying are poorly written. Even Billy Zane as a supporting character does a really good job. Either way, they all deserve praise for this because its wonderfully acted and it portrays such a unique feeling for the audience. Definiately should see it, but be warned, it is early DiCaprio ergo ~ chick flick. A good one though :P
Ok i was going to post when i got out of rehearsal today but I took a nap… so…
Anyway, I want to just clarify something really quick: I’m extremely picky about Romantic Comedies. Usually I just think theyre super cheesy and predictable or watver but yesterday I watched The Holidy (Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz) and it was really well done. At first I thought it was gooing to be stupid and predictable, but the twists of it were well thought out and presented. Jude Law has a brilliant performance in this film and blend that with Kate Winslet (who always kills) and the cute funniness that constantly surrounds Jack Black and you got yourself a good movie. I’m usually not a Diaz fan, but I think this as one of her better performances. Also, this film has lots of awesome British people and Jude Law is so hot (and talented) <3
So I think I’ll probably be able to get two movies in today considering I already watched one, but we’ll see. Anyway, my Netflix told me I would like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." (Jim Carey, Kate Winslet). I actually started watching this movie for the first time about two weeks ago, but decided ten minutes in that I didn’t want to watch it. So, I gave it another try. I think the movie had a lot of potential when it was first concieved, but they kinda effed the whole thing up and made it kind of boring and unsure. Anyway, the acting by Jim Carey is pretty good, including a scene in which he has to act like a 5 year old kid that’s rather entertaining, But I was impressed with Kate Winslet, she had the right aura from the very start and held onto her character the whole movie. She’s usually pretty damn good though. So… watch her if your looking at this movie.
